Supervision

I am available as an external supervisor for Registered Provisional Psychologists! I have extensive supervisory experience in large organizations and currently through my private practice I’m working with provisional psychologists who are looking to obtain their license through the College of Alberta Psychologists.

The first step is to have your academic credentials approved by CAP and find a site to obtain your hours. Having an external supervisor minimizes dual relationships on site and brings in fresh perspective into your practice. I have been described as a collaborative supervisor and together we will define an approach to supervision that may include live observation, experimental activities and case consultation. Together we will focus on your growth as a therapist, your client’s goals and safety, College of Alberta Psychologists requirements, and we will problem solve good ethical decision-making so you feel confident dealing with challenges when they arise in your career.

Please note that I am currently full and not able to act as a primary supervisor at this time. I am, however, available to supplement your provisional journey by acting as a secondary supervisor.

Below are the amazing provisional psychologists I am currently supervising! They offer lower cost counselling and can be a great option for those searching for support.

Jason Dobbs

I am a registered provisional psychologist who focuses primarily on helping men of all ages heal and revitalize their relationships. Of all the relationships we maintain, the most important one is with ourselves. Through our own inner dialogue of feelings and thoughts we read and tell our own story. I believe this awareness of how feelings and thoughts manifest in our body and minds is at the heart of counselling and the human condition. Emotions get stored in our body and have a history.  In the space we share, I will provide a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for you to tell your story, and to write the next chapter in your life. Sometimes this isn’t easy, because we have been telling ourselves the same story that we might want to change for a long time. Together we may try to understand how your past influences you, highlight the strengths you have shown, and build resiliency along with the current difficulties you may face. When depression, anxiety, shame, and/or trauma influences the way we speak, think, and act, we are robbed of our own story telling rights. You have the right to be who you want to be.

Combining various approaches, such as Narrative, Polyvagal, Mindful Cognitive Behavioural, Internal Family Systems, Existential, Brain Based, Trauma Informed, Solution, Emotionally, and Compassion Focused Therapy, we will collaborate on what you need to grow, and consistently on what you want that growth to look like. You are in the driver’s seat, and since I believe the answers and solutions you seek are already inside you, our time together will be tailored to suit your needs, in a person centered and unconditionally accepting manner. With all the demands society puts on us today, as men, we sometimes need to bring forth extra strength to be vulnerable. I will provide a safe space for you to do so.

Oana Vonu-Boriceanu, MA

Hello, I’m Oana,

As a Registered Provisional Psychologist, I love helping people live authentically. With support, understanding and gentle care, we can create meaning in our lives, achieve powerful transformation and begin a journey of self-discovery. Often when there is great pain and suffering, it can be the catalyst for change in one’s life. I am passionate about supporting people on this path to fulfillment and wholeness.

I have earned my Master of Counselling Psychology and Bachelor of Psychology degree. Throughout almost two decades of working with children, families and adults in a variety of community settings, it became clear that relationships and attachment are at the core of well-being. I provide attachment-based therapy and I am trauma informed. I believe the presence of safe and nurturing relationships are key to healing.

I draw on person-centred, emotionally focused and psychodynamic approaches and I work with pre-teens and teens, adults and families.

The first step in reaching out to a therapist can be daunting. I am supportive of each and every stage of your healing journey and I am happy to go at your pace as we co-create a safe space and develop rapport.

As a person who aspires to practice as the 'Healed Healer', I take part in my own personal therapy and continue to be a student of self-development and emotional health and wellness. I am also a nature and animal lover and have a keen interest in most outdoor activities and adventures.

Warmly,

Oana | she/her
